Gatling Gun
Richard Jordan Gatling
Richard Jordan Gatling is the inventor of the first Gatling gun. He invented it in 1862 for the use of the United States Military. The military however did not buy the Gatling Gun until around 1864 after Gatling had made the gun a six barreled rotating weapon. This was the first rapid fire weapon to be used and the predecessor of the modern day machine gun. Gatling intened the weapon to be so devastating that the idea of war would become a horrible thought thus ending all wars.
